The 2024 State of Workplace Empathy Preview reveals alarming declines in mental health, with 55% of CEOs and 50% of employees reporting issues in the past year, and 65% of Gen Z most affected. Toxicity is widespread, as 35% of employees and 52% of CEOs view their workplace as toxic, and stigma persists with 81% of CEOs saying mental health issues are seen as weakness. Despite 9 in 10 valuing mental health as much as physical health, benefit utilization is low, with large gaps between what employees want and use. Empathy directly impacts retention, as 88% would stay if their employer empathized with their needs.
