CASE STUDIES Lean Government: Workforce Center Problem Unemployed citizens were not receiving the training necessary to help them become "job ready" in an appropriate amount of time, largely as a result of cultural issues between State and Local employees. Solution A number of process improvements were implemented based on a 3-day Value Stream Analysis Process sm , which documented the current state, designed the future state, and developed a project plan to manage the improvements. Coaching and support were provided to assist with the implementation and sustainment of the changes. Results Lead time of the process was reduced by over 50% Customer wait time was reduced by over 75% Value-Added time for a new customer was increased by over 49%
