Industrial CHP Case Study THE OPPORTUNITY Aspen Aerogels is located in East Providence, RI and have high hot waterprocess requirements for theproduction ofthe most effective thermal insulator on earth. High energy costs are the resultant of these process requirements and Asp e n ’ s facilities engineering department were evaluating methods to lower the manufacturing p lan t ’ soverallenergycosts. After a comprehensive engineering evaluation, the best candidate technology for their facility was a Combined Heat and Power System. Working with their local utilities, A/Z Corp and ZHP Systems, Aspen Aerogels moved forward with a CHP systemdesign.
