Embassy CHP Case Study THE OPPORTUNITY The British Embassy is located on Massachusetts Avenue and is the largest embassy in Washington, DC. The building has nearly500employeesandhasacentralutilityplant. The British Embassy selected Pepco Energy after an extensive evaluation that was in accordance with European Union Procurement Rules. The evaluation also included a comprehensive LEED assessment of the embassy and through the design-build contract incorporated processes and measures that contributed to LEED certification of the complex. The cogeneration analysis indicated a 250 kWe natural gas CCHP system would be the best candidate for the electric and thermal loads of the Embassy.
