CASE STUDY Former Petrol Filling Station Decommissioning THE BRIEF Carry out phased demolition of above ground infrastructure including the retail shop, pole sign and canopy. Break up and remove existing hard standings. Remove all below- ground fuel tanks (21 in total), valve pits, interceptor and fuel infrastructure. Carry out remedial earthworks associated with known impacted soils. THE SOLUTION The first stage was to demolish the forecourt buildings and canopy. This gave clear access to the ground to remove the tanks and their associated pipe work. The site was checked for contamination before being backfilled and restored to a level surface.THE OUTCOME A pristine site.
