FUEL ASSET DECOMMISSIONING Terminal Tank & Line Decommission THE BRIEF To decommission four of the main tank farm tanks and remove about 1 kilometre of associated fuel lines that ran from 2 of the former petrol tanks. The tanks comprised of 2 x 565,000L and 2 x 1,500,000L tanks. THE SOLUTION We first had to electrically isolate relevant circuits whilst ensuring the gauges etc still remained working for the client’s remaining tanks. We then mechanically isolated a series of valves and gauges to enable draining down the lines and dug them clean ready for removal. A man entry tank clean was carried out to the two larger tanks so that they too were ready for removal. We removed the associated pipework & pump from the tanks including the plant room.
