CASE STUDY Above Ground Tank Decommissioning THE BRIEF LCM was commissioned to remove a number of above ground tanks from a former processing factory in South Devon. The tanks had held various products from Gas Oil, Trichloroethylene, Low Viscosity Oils and Sodium Hydroxide. THE SOLUTION All tanks were cleaned on site prior to removal, and a Mobile Elevated Work Platform(MEWP) brought in to gain access. The lids were removed which allowed efficient toidy site and a satisfied customer.cleaning and the removal of associated pipe work. Then lifting plans were drawn up and a suitable crane was used to load the largestdecommissioned tanks onto our flatbed lorry; smaller tanks were removed utilising our Hiab LGV.
