A PROVEN COMMUNITY INVESTMENT POTAWATOMI ZOO: ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDIES Opportunity Zoo Advisors has been a long-term partner to Potawatomi Zoo and has engaged the organi- zation on several initiatives over the years. In 2016 and 2018, the Zoo reached out to Zoo Advisors to conduct economic impact studies to quantify economic activity attributable to its development and operations. But why two studies in such a short time frame? Each had a distinct purpose—the first study was prospective: it aimed to demonstrate the impact the Zoo’s master plan would have on the community in the future with the goal of securing capital funding. The second was retrospective—it demonstrated the Zoo’s actual impact in the most recent three years to make the case for additional public operating support.
