Communication in a Post-Pandemic Workplace
The UKG 2023 Post-Pandemic Workplace Communications survey reveals that while employees have adjusted well to remote and hybrid work, they still value in-person interactions. Key findings include: widespread video call fatigue, with only 2% preferring videoconferencing; a majority see in-office work as beneficial for recognition and networking; and most prefer difficult conversations, such as feedback, to occur in person. Despite concerns that Gen Z lacks workplace readiness, many young workers feel confident in their communication skills. The report emphasizes the need for flexible work arrangements, making office time appealing, and providing Gen Z with clear, constructive feedback.
