NPs and PAs are Driving the Telehealth Revolution

Pages 1 Pages

Nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) have become central to the telehealth revolution accelerated by COVID-19. Surveys show 89% of NPs now provide patient care via telehealth, with over half of NPs and PAs conducting at least 50% of their visits virtually. Outcomes include 76% writing new prescriptions, 71% renewing existing ones, and 79% continuing ongoing treatments. While most patients are receptive, challenges remain—especially patients’ ability to use the technology. By 2030, NPs and PAs are projected to represent over 50% of U.S. prescribers, cementing telehealth as a core care delivery model.
