Wetheral Waste Water Treatment Works
Wetheral Waste Water Treatment Works Background Wetheral Waste Water Treatment Works were required to achieve a solids compliance before they were able to discharge safely. The site had a combination of gravity and pumped flows from various locations, which were directed to the top of the site for treatment. The Overall Objective The site required a suitable solution that could successfully reduce the effluent suspended solids within the challenging environment to be below 40mg/L. The solids were irregular in size and the existing settlement tanks were unable to achieve the desired results effectively, which if continued would lead to breaching the consent set out by the Environment Agency. Solution SPS initially took a number of samples of the irregular effluent for testing to ensure they
