This project was part of the redevelopment of the Unwins Depot in Dartford, Kent. The 2.4 hectare site is being regenerated by the South East England De- velopment Agency (SEEDA) to create a mixed-use development of retail outlets, business units and housing. Clifford Devlin won a competitive tender to provide the enabling works which involved the demolition of three buildings and remediation of several 'hotspots contaminated with asbestos and hydrocarbons. Following the removal of asbestos cement sheets from roof coverings the warehouse structures were dismantled by severing and removing the roof truss- es and beams then demolished using excavators fitted with hydraulic attachments.
