TYLI provided civil engineering design services for the repair of erosion along the east embankment of the Grace Hopper Bridge

Project Highlights: T. Y . Lin International (TYLI) provided civil engineering design services for the repair of erosion along the east embankment of the Grace Hopper Bridge on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Grace Hopper Bridge crosses Goose Creek on the heavily-traveled, primary route between the South Annex and the rest of the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. Originally noted in a Routine Inspection Report performed by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Engineering Service Center, the erosion had produced vertical cut banks up to 3 feet high and undercut vegetation upstream and downstream. The design to repair the erosion consisted of a grout-filled mattress and rip rap, and covered approximately 4500 square feet. TYLI conduc
