I-565 in Huntsville, Alabama | Volkert Location: Huntsville, AL Client: Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) One of the largest projects ever completed by the Alabama Department of Transportation, Interstate 565 through Madison County has sparked economic development and growth, improving quality of life for North Alabama. Volkert provided design on 4.8 miles of Interstate Spur I-565 from Jordan Lane to Andrew Jackson Way in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. The project consisted of refining the location study alignments and establishing mainline, ramps, crossroads alignments and grades, as well as, four interchanges with seven miles of ramps and collector/distributor roads and seven miles of surface street reconstruction. Traffic analysis was provided to determine lane requirements. V
