Glide and Switch Technology Improves Operator Response Time in Public Safety Answering Point

One of the busiest 911 call centers in the southeastern United States, serving 2.7 million residents and handling over two million calls annually, needed a way to streamline operator workflows across multiple PCs. Each operator used a specialty VersaKey keyboard and single mouse, which strained the existing setup. Black Box introduced the Freedom KM switch with Glide and Switch technology, allowing call takers to control multiple PCs by moving a mouse across screens. The system supported the custom keyboard’s hot-key sequences and enabled future expansion. The result was faster response times, seamless operation, and improved efficiency.
