Foley Beach Express Bridge | Volkert Location: Gulf Shores, AL Client: Baldwin County Bridge Company Volkert designed the Foley Beach Express Bridge, connecting the Foley Beach Express to State Route 180 in Orange Beach, Alabama, spanning the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway for the Baldwin County Bridge Company. The Express and the bridge provide an alternate freeway route for commuters and tourists to travel to and from Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Volkert also provided architectural services for the toll facility and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) for the approaches and associated facilities and improvements. The one-mile toll road included a two-lane bridge over the Intracostal Waterway, road relocation, signing and signalization. The bridge length is 1,860 feet. The
