Flatiron Institute Taps Ceph for Extreme Scale, Reliability, and Speed
The Flatiron Institute built a powerful, scalable HPC infrastructure using open-source Ceph, 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, and Intel® NVMe technology to support data-intensive research in genomics, quantum physics, astronomy, and neuroscience. As research complexity grew, Flatiron adopted Ceph for its flexibility and scalability, achieving over 100 GB/sec I/O throughput with over 4,000 drives. This architecture, leveraging Intel’s CPUs and SSDs, enables fast, reliable access to petabyte-scale datasets and seamless system expansion, empowering hundreds of researchers to accelerate breakthrough discoveries without compromising performance or uptime.
