California Data Collection Project Description: IRD provided equipment, maintenance, software maintenance, and on- call service for their statewide network of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) systems at approximately 200 locations. Most recently provided was a high speed WIM and verication system for a new Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility (CVEF) in Solano County. California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) WIM systems provide 24 hour trac information at key locations on California highways. The information collected includes a vehicle’s axle weights and gross weight, axle spacing, vehicle classication, and speed data.
