Foam generation in the starch causes defects in the sheet and sub-standard testing for sheet quality. Cost and service was a factor as the existing product was costing $130.00/day and the feed system was breaking down on a regular basis. Several different products were tested at various feed rates in a foam-cell measuring initial foam generation and reduction over timed intervals, as well as time required for total foam collapse.
