On the route to success

On the route to success

The global truck industry is undergoing a pivotal shift toward zero-emission (ZE) trucks, which demands a transformation beyond powertrains to include economics, infrastructure, and business models. OEMs face high R&D and component costs, making profitability a challenge, and must focus on lifecycle revenue. New models like truck-as-a-service and digital solutions are expected to drive up to 75% of OEM profits by 2035. Success hinges on strategic capital allocation, partnerships, and investments in software, batteries, and connectivity. However, with less than 25% of needed infrastructure investment committed, and with China setting a rapid pace, global emission targets will be missed unless ecosystem-wide collaboration accelerates.
