The State of AI in Content Marketing: Q2 2025
Ahrefs’ Q2 2025 report (879 respondents) finds AI now pervasive in content marketing: 87% use it, mainly for blogs, brainstorming, outlines, and updates. Teams using AI publish ~47% more content monthly and saw median YoY traffic grow ~5 points faster (29% vs 24%). Most (97%) review AI output—only 4% publish pure AI—and disclosure is rare (16%). ChatGPT leads usage (44%), followed by Gemini and Claude. Human articles cost ~4.7× more, yet total monthly spend is similar; firms instead get more output per dollar. Perceived risks center on inaccuracy and misinformation; AI content is slightly more likely to get manual penalties but slightly less likely to be hit by algorithm updates. 51% plan to increase AI spend.
