The Accenture Regulatory Landscape Study (June 2023) highlights intensifying compliance demands for European financial institutions. In 2022, more than 800 new regulatory changes were issued by EU and Italian authorities, while fines for compliance failures totaled $4.2B. Compliance executives expect rising pressure: 62% foresee greater resource allocation and 75% plan increased investment within two years. Over 70 new regulations are in the pipeline, 60% tied to digital finance, data and AI, sustainability, and crisis management. To navigate this, Accenture advises consolidating recent changes, preparing for major upcoming rules such as DORA, CRR III, and Responsible AI, and seizing new business opportunities in areas like digital assets and ESG finance.
