2022 Global DDoS Attack Landscape Report
The 2022 Global DDoS Attack Landscape Report by NSFOCUS reveals a 273% increase in DDoS attacks compared to 2021, marking four consecutive years of growth. Attacks over 100 Gbps rose by more than 50%, with some exceeding 1 Tbps for six months. UDP-based attacks dominated, accounting for about 60% of all incidents, while Southeast Asia emerged as the main target region. The United States was the largest source of application-layer DDoS traffic, and Peru suffered the most such attacks. Mirai remained the most active botnet, exploiting 77 high-risk vulnerabilities. Increasingly, critical infrastructure such as finance and public services faced targeted, persistent DDoS campaigns.
