Java continues to play a major role in the enterprise, with 82% using it in software or infrastructure and 65% saying it accounts for over half of their cloud compute costs. Security remains a challenge, as 49% report false positives waste significant DevOps time and 33% are still affected by Log4J. Modernization pressures are rising—72% must increase compute for AI, 62% say unused code hurts productivity, and 24% have excess cloud capacity. Concerns about Oracle pricing persist, with 88% considering switching providers and 85% paying for commercial support, while many are adopting Java 17 or 21 and building AI functionality with Java.
