The 2022 Consumer Digital Trust Index reveals growing distrust across industries, with financial services, healthcare, and consumer technology ranked as most trusted, while media, government, and social media lag behind. About 33% of consumers have experienced a data breach, and 82% reported negative impacts. Eleven percent of companies took up to six months to notify affected customers. Following breaches, 54% believe firms should face mandatory security controls, and 21% stopped using the breached service. Trust levels vary globally, with Brazil, Mexico, and the UAE most trusting, and France, the UK, and Germany least trusting.
