The May 2025 report explores 3D-Secure Data Only as a low-friction tool to fight e-commerce fraud by enhancing data sharing between merchants and financial institutions without requiring user authentication. Although roughly half of surveyed merchants in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Brazil use it, most apply it to less than 40% of transactions. Nearly 90% report it as effective in boosting approval rates and reducing fraud. Adoption is rising, with most users reporting up to 25% volume growth from 2023 to 2024. However, data quality issues and inconsistent field population remain barriers to broader use.
