Challenge The client required a new coating system with the capability of handling extremely aggressive chemicals operating at high temperatures. There was also a short time frame for project completion due to the quantity of tanks required to be refurbished during the dry-docking programme. Solution For areas where a full refurbishment was required, the cargo tanks were grit blasted to Sa 21/2 standard. Furthermore, areas which required to be spot repaired where mechanically prepared to St 3 standard. This was followed by one primer coat of solvent-free, Novolac epoxy Epo-chemTM RE 500P.
