Overview The ballast tanks on-board the Crude Oil Tanker, which had previously been coated by one of the leading coating companies, were showing signs of corrosion damage. Over 30,000m2 required to be patch repaired. Challenge Grit blasting was not permissible due to time constraints. A coating system compatible with the existing ballast tank coating was also required. Solution High pressure water washing was used as the main surface preparation method, with inaccessible areas mechanically prepared. All edges, welds and inaccessi- ble areas were stripe coated, followed by one touch up coat of solvent-free, wet & rust tolerant epoxy Epo-chemTM RS 500P. Outcome The unique characteristics of Epo-chemTM RS 500P allowed the system to be appli
