Thales Germany Constructs New Control Center for Berlin Underground Using KVM Technology from Black Box

BVG, operator of Berlin’s 91-mile metro network, partnered with Thales Germany and Black Box to build a new control center for managing over 1,200 trains. To ensure reliability, the project used full fiber optic cabling and switched from analog VGA to digital DVI, improving image quality and enabling redundancy. More than 30 DKM extenders were deployed to separate computers from 21 workstations, enhancing security, lifespan, and flexibility. Content is distributed across 31 video lines and large monitor walls, giving staff full network oversight. The system delivers zero-latency performance, streamlined workflows, and robust reliability.
