In 1999, Brüel & Kjær Vibro was asked to install a monitoring system at DS Smith’s pulp and paper mill in Aschaffenburg, Germany. This was partly in order to provide condition monitoring of the paper machine bearings as they aged, and partly to support a planned increase in production speeds. Twenty years later, the system is still operating successfully, delivering reduced downtime and lower costs through planned maintenance.
