Case Study: Sediment Remediation at wanson River Location: Kenai, Alaska NRC Scope NRC performed a Waste Disposal project at the Swanson River Field Central Waste Disposal Facility, during the summer of 2009. Technical Challenge Activities at the site began with the extraction of 600 bbl. of free liquid and then 9,408 bbl. of solids were excavated. The solid waste was comingled with drying agent prior to loading into lined containers. Samples were tested to ensure that the EPA paint filter test criteria is met prior to shipment and upon arrival at an Owner approved and EPA Permitted Subtitle D landfill with the capabilities to accept E&P exempt waste for disposal.Result Response After all material was removed from the open cell, the liner was cleaned and was cut into manageable sections
