Seaford Rail Extension Country Australia Client South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) Contract type Design and Construct Length 5.7 kilometers Total length of bridge 1.2 kilometers Between 2010 and 2012, CIMIC subsidiary Thiess worked as part of a joint venture to significantly improve transport rail services to residents of Adelaide’s southern suburbs. The 5.7-kilometer Seaford Rail Extension will save them about ten minutes on their way to the city. In addition to rail lines, stations, and park-and-ride facilities, the project also included a bus station, three road bridges, and a 1.2- kilometer-long bridge over the Onkaparinga Valley. The long span technique helped Thiess minimize the construction footprint on the southern nature reserve.
