Sanibel Bridge and Toll Plaza Replacement | Volkert Location: Lee County, Florida Client: Lee County Department of Transportation The causeway consists of three separate two-lane bridge spans, and two man- made causeway islands, which are located between each of the three bridges. The entire causeway facility is owned by Lee County and operated by the Lee County Department of Transportation. The entire causeway is three miles long from end to end. The project consisted of the replacement of two fixed bridges and one bascule bridge over the Caloosahatchee water way. These bridges connect Lee County mainland with Sanibel Island.
