!e new REWE CENTER opened in November 2015 in the centre of Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg. !e aluminium-clad façade itself looks spectacular. It represents a wave from the neighbouring River Brenz and creates interesting light effects depending on the time of day. Inside, it is just as extraordinary: over 3,200 m2, barrier-free, the REWE CENTER presents itself as a new, discrete store concept with a huge selection of more than 45,000 food and non-food items. !e charm of the weekly fresh produce market gives to attractive flavour. !e shopfittings also play a part here, as they speak volumes about the goods that they present. !e independent REWE retailer Hans-Jakob Nieß manages the REWE CENTER and he decided collaborate with Wanzl for its interior design.
