New Body Evaluation Method Enables Squeak and Rattle Prevention

Pages 2 Pages

CEVT developed a new simulation-based evaluation method to reduce squeak and rattle issues in electric vehicle body structures. Traditional stiffness metrics were insufficient for EV architectures, prompting the need for a dynamic, distortion-based approach. Using Altair solutions, engineers analyzed closure opening distortions under dynamic loading and derived an equivalent static load methodology. An automated detection tool enabled rapid correlation between simulation and physical testing. This approach allowed engineers to evaluate new body designs in minutes rather than days, improving perceived vehicle quality, accelerating design iterations, and enabling earlier, data-driven decisions in vehicle development.
