Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) sought to eliminate squeak and rattle issues early in vehicle development for its Trumpchi EMPOW model. Traditional testing methods detected issues too late and lacked predictive capability. By adopting Altair Squeak and Rattle Director, GAC simulated relative displacement, gap tolerance, and friction behavior between adjacent parts during the design phase. The tool identified seven potential S&R risks and guided structural optimization and material adjustments. As a result, the EMPOW achieved a best-in-class S&R score of 0.21, outperforming competitors. The workflow established GAC as an industry leader in virtual S&R development and significantly reduced late-stage quality issues.
