The team had to install 10,000 new sleepers and 6kms of rail on the Melba Line (West Coast). These works were predominately the replacement of expired steel sleepers, as well as the installation of new rail. There was some welding and de-stressing of the new works involved. The rail crew started in Colebrook and worked their way back towards Burnie, where they completed the project in March 2016. The crew worked under live traffic.
