Maximising Activation and Adherence: Education and Support Programme for Cystic Fibrosis Launch

Pages 2 Pages

To address high discontinuation rates after a difficult U.S. launch of a cystic fibrosis therapy, IQVIA developed a patient support program (PSP) focused on education and adherence. Delivered by a dedicated nurse team, the program supported HCPs during initiation and guided patients and families through the first 12 months, when adherence risk was highest. Initially face-to-face, it shifted to remote during COVID-19 without loss of effectiveness. Results showed a discontinuation rate of just 1.7% versus 40% in the U.S. launch, with nonadherence dropping from 30% to 4% after 12 months.
