Challenge The Villages, an active adult retirement community in central Florida, wanted to construct an observation pier offering a view of the grasslands at Live Oak Park. The private development, which hosts a large population of senior citizens, needed a long-lasting and easy-to-maintain building material for its boardwalk and scenic observation pier. The maintenance headaches and impermanence of wood decking was a significant challenge for The Villages District Property Management, the department responsible for upholding The Village's infrastructure.
