System Solution Dematic worked with JCPenney to custom design a solution to meet their operational requirements. SKUs are velocity typed A or B to determine storage and picking zone locations. Order picking functions are divided by pick-pack and pre-pack type and into velocity zones. Picking and material tracking throughout the warehousing and distribution center are RF and bar code ID based. Cartons are received at fourteen dock doors, conveyed through seven identification and two sizing stations, and are delivered to thirty-four pallet built stations. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) pick up loaded pallets from the pallet built stations and deliver them to VNA conventional storage or ASRS storage.
