Ideas to transform foster care licensing, and childrens’ lives

Pages 4 Pages

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families partnered with Medallia and New America to transform the foster care licensing process, especially for kinship caregivers. Using Medallia Crowdicity, over 3,000 stakeholders submitted more than 300 ideas, leading to immediate implementation of several process improvements. These included launching a caregiver support unit, moving licensing online, and applying an equity lens. As a result, Washington plans to increase licensed kinship caregivers from 11% to 70% and cut licensing time from 160 to 60 days. The platform also helped track recommendations across task forces and supported legal and policy reforms.
