HVDC Submarine Cable Study Location: US POWER Engineers performed a submarine cable study for the installation of a 225 mile ± 400 kV DC bipolar cable system rated at 700 MVA. The route includes both land and submarine sections. The study included the following: right of way width required to install and operate a ± 400 kV DC submarine cable optimum cable size, type and number of individual cables; and, installation cost (including cable terminator and splicing materials/activities) for both the underground and submarine cable.
