Features Client: Bonneville Power Administration Location: The Dalles, Oregon Bonneville Power Administration’s Celilo HVDC converter station was upgraded with a new converter to support the future overall rating increase in the Pacific DC Intertie. POWER, contracted to perform owner’s engineering, worked with TransGrid Solutions (TGS), a leading HVDC technology subcontractor, to provide detailed analytical support and HVDC expertise. Located at the north end of the Intertie the station previously had an operating capacity to transmit 3,100 MW of power, and now has a terminal rating of 3,800 MW at +/- 560 kV HVDC.
