Boiler Upgrade Project Washington The boiler hog fuel feed system was limiting the boiler steaming capacity. In addition, the fuel feed system did not feed the furnace evenly, and allowed uncontrolled air into the furnace resulting in poor combustion performance. To address these issues, the existing vibratory screen and vibrating distribution conveyor, original to the boiler, were replaced with a new disc screen, drag type distribution conveyor, fuel storage bin and four variable speed fuel metering screws. A submerged bottom ash conveyor was also installed to eliminate uncontrolled tramp air when the existing ash hopper slide gates opened. The Challenge: Space was very limited for replacement of the screen and distribution conveyor and the addition of the fuel bin and metering screws. T
