HM Prison Service, Buckley Hall, Rochdale
rf01002 Buckley Hall is the fourth contracted out prison in the UK, and the first privately managed Cat C establishment holding medium security prisoners. The prison changed from an all male establishment to a closed female training prison in April 2002, however it was decided to re-role the establishment back to a male category C prison in September 2005. The male prisoners began arriving on December 5th 2005. As part of the re-role back to a male establishment, it was recognised that statistically there would be a higher percentage of muslim prisoners than there had been whilst a female establishment.
