Kemps recently created a series of bespoke luminaires for the new security zone of Heathrow Terminal 5’s First Class Wing. The security portal has been designed to enable rst class passengers to proceed through to the lounges in under 5 minutes. The space needed to have a rst class atmosphere whilst being practically lit. We were specied by StudioFractal to design an LED light engine that could provide over 10,000 lumens and would provide the required light levels. The nished luminaires would be wall and pole mounted across the space to downlight various areas. To make matters slightly more complex, the required heatsink needed to be formed with a slight curve to t the main luminaire body which was already secured on site.
