Hamill Road | Volkert Location: Chattanooga, TN Client: City of Chattanooga Hamill Road is an important thoroughfare in Chattanooga that required capacity and traffic improvements but had limited right of way. Volkert provided an innovative center-turn-lane design to provide a safer and more efficient roadway within the available space. Hamill Road was widened from a two-lane facility to a two-lane facility with a two-way left turn lane. Numerous intersection improvements along the route were also part of the project. The project also incorporated new pedestrian facilities along the route. The project required the analysis of various alternative designs and alignment for the roadway.
