Glasson Moss is a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the south Solway coast in Cumbria. Like many peat bogs it has been damaged over the years, so Natural England and the Solway Wetlands Partnership came together to restore and protect this important area. Being an ‘Open Access’ area it was important to provide safe access to the public and it was decided to add 850m of boardwalk to the existing path network, which would provide an easy year- round facility to explore this unique environment. When investigating the possibilities the objectives were: - ? The boardwalk should be durable, with minimal maintenance requirements. ? It should provide safe access to visitors. ?
