Case Study
Fish Rescue – Fair-a-Far Weir
To provide a competent management plan for delivering a fish rescue of migratory fish including salmon and seatrout over a 10-week period and also to provide site inspections of mitigation measures in place at the site of a fish pass being installed at the Fair-a-Far weir on the River Almond in Midlothian.- A competent management plan was developed and over the 10-week period, Eco-Fish provided fish rescues to facilitate the upstream migration of species including salmon and sea trout and also the removal of non-migratory species including brown trout and perch from within the construction area. A mixed-method combination approach was taken with electrofishing by boat, electrofishing by wading and rod and line used depending on the challenging conditions of river flow faced at each visit.
