PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A combined 300 linear feet of sidewalk on each side of the Florida State Road 56 overpass just north of Tampa on Interstate 75 was refurbished by Transportation Structures using QUIKRETE ® FastSetTM Latex Modified DOT Overlay. After removing damaged and dilapidated concrete from the two sidewalks, the overlay was mixed in 40-pound increments and poured in 10-foot sections from 3/4” to 2.5” deep. After putting on a broom finish and etching in expansion joints, the renewed sidewalks could be walked on in 20 minutes. In addition to the fast- setting nature of the overlay, the majority of work was done overnight to further expedite completion of the project by minimizing any traffic disruptions.
